There are various effects that related to the use of automobiles. There are positive and negative effects, but in this case I would like to discuss it in the changes that it makes to the environments, health, economic, and cultural of the Malaysian community.
Most automobiles in Malaysia are propelled by petrol or diesel internal combustion engines. Petrol engines have the advantage over diesel in being lighter and able to work at higher rotational speeds and they are the usual choice for fitting in high-performance sports cars. Diesel-engine in Malaysia is mainly use in high powered vehicle such as buses and trucks. The engine moved when the air and petrol are mixed in the carburetor and then injected into the combustion chamber. After the combustion is completed the smoke that produces by the process is transferred to the exhaust pipe and then release to the air. The gases are classified as CO2 or Carbon dioxide.
These CO2 emissions are very hazardous to human health and the world atmosphere. Human will suffer of losing of oxygen as inhaling carbon can bring slow death to human. CO2 also thinning the world atmosphere when the gas react to it composition. As result, the world becomes hot because the atmosphere that block the sun heat is thinning. The scientists predict if this phenomenon continues the giant iceberg in the artic will melt and cause the world to be flooded.
The automobile also can be part of the oil pollutions. The car engine need to be properly care to make it endurance last long. So the engine oil need to be replace to maintain it lifespan, and the improper dematerialize it will cause the oil pollution. The oil pollution can be dangerous to the living creature, if the oil is trashed into the water it will pollute it. The under water creature will became extinct, and the river or water way will become dirty.
Another change brought about by the automobile is that modern urban pedestrians must be more alert than before. In the past, a pedestrian had to worry about relatively slow-moving bull cart or other obstacles of travel. With the invention of the automobile, a pedestrian has to anticipate safety risks of automobiles because at high speeds cars may cause serious damage to a human.
As for the Malaysian economy, the oil price is still low due to the government initiatives. We also have Malaysian made automobiles factory. The two main car manufacturers in Malaysia is PROTON (PeRusahaan OTOmobil Nasional or The National Automobile Developer) and PERODUA (PERusahaan Otomobil keDUA or The Second Automobile Developer). This helps some Malaysian people to own cars as the imported cars are expensive. The cars produce here are also fulfills the international car standard. When the Malaysian people bought the national car it proportionally helps the local economy by limiting the currency to be transferred to the other country.
The automobile industry here also helps contributing to other sector such as the traveling sector. Here we have many automobile events held in Sepang F1 circuit. There are Japan GT, Merdeka endurance race, F1 cars and many more. Each year millions of visitors came to witness the events. This also helps the Malaysia economy growth.
The automobile industry also did some changes in the Malaysian automobile culture. Some Malaysians “benefits” the use of car in their own style. Car modification has been an expensive hobby for some “have extra money” Malaysian. The modification comprehends from changing the looks of the car to the lunatic modification of changing a normal low horsepower sedan into a super fast racing street car. Some even broke their piggy bank to realize their dreams, but they believe that it pays its own way.
In my opinion, the cars reflect the status of its owner. The upper standard society will use imported cars like BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Lexus and etc. While the middle class society will use national car like Proton and Produa or imported cars from Japan or Korea. As for the lower class society, they may buy the used car or would ride a motorbike instead a car. Anyway this is just my opinion not the actual statement of the Malaysian automobile culture.
